About Station 2

RCM-SAR 2 is crewed by volunteers of the Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue • Station 2 and operates out of Lynnwood Marina in North Vancouver. Our area of responsibility covers English Bay to the West, Port Moody Inlet to the East, and North to the tip of Indian Arm.

 

STATION 2 • NORTH VANCOUVER

  • Maintains a 24 hour a day, 365 days per year search and rescue readiness
  • Responds to an average 55 calls per year
  • Promotes boating safety, including programs designed to increase water safety awareness
  • Recruits volunteer search & rescue crews
  • Provides ongoing training to volunteers in search & rescue techniques, navigation safety, seamanship, communications, and first aid
  • We are a small but dedicated group made up of a variety of people from different backgrounds
  • Our station currently has 32 active SAR members and 8 active non-SAR members

PRIMARY VESSEL:  Falkins Class II Type Vessel

  • 11m Titan 360 twin jet drive RHIB
  • Powered by two 435HP Volvo D6 engines, driving two Hamilton Jet model 274 water jets
  • Top speed of 37 knots, cruising speed of 30 knots
  • Shallow draft of only 28″, and a gross weight of 17,000 lbs
  • Built by Titan Boats in Sydney, BC
  • Has been in service with station 2 since the spring of 2012

SECONDARY VESSEL: 2001 Titan 249 T-Top RHIB

  • 7.5m Titan RHIB
  • Powered by two 200HP Evinrude ETEC outboards
  • Top speed of 40 knots, cruising speed of 30 knots
  • Draft of 34″, and a gross weight of approx. 7,000 lbs
  • Built by Titan Boats in Sydney, BC
  • Has been in service with station 2 since the June of 2014
